Moon Palace Resorts: Which One Is Actually Worth It?
A real look at Moon Palace, Sun Palace, Le Blanc & more (after seeing them for ourselves). If you’ve ever looked into all-inclusive resorts in Cancun and thought, “Wait… why are there SO many Palace resorts?” same.
We recently visited several of them to see what they’re actually like, and more importantly… who each one is really for. Because while they all fall under the same brand, the vibes? Very different.
Let’s break it down 👇
Moon Palace Cancun (The Grand + Nizuc + Sunrise)
Best for: Families, groups, and “we want options” travelers
This is the mega resort and we mean MEGA. It’s basically a destination on its own.
You have three sections:
• Sunrise – more budget-friendly, still tons to do
• Nizuc – quieter, slightly more elevated
• The Grand at Moon Palace – next-level luxury within Moon Palace! This resort requires a day pass if you’re not staying at this section resort, so keep that in mind when booking.
What we loved:
• Endless dining options (you won’t get bored)
• A legit water park (huge win for kids)
• Golf course, spa, nightlife… it’s all here
• Perfect for multi-generational trips
What to know:
• It’s BIG. Like… golf-cart-or-shuttle big
• Beach is not the highlight here (more lagoon-style water)
👉 Our take: If your group can never agree on anything… this is your place. There’s something for everyone.
Sun Palace (Adults Only)
Best for: Couples who want quiet + romantic without going ultra-luxury
This one surprised us and in a good way. It’s smaller, calmer, and feels way more intimate than Moon Palace.
What we loved:
• Every room faces the ocean
• Relaxed, romantic vibe (not party-heavy)
• Easy to navigate (no shuttles needed)
What to know:
• Not a ton of nightlife
• Limited restaurant options compared to larger resorts
👉 Our take: Perfect for a low-key couples trip where you actually want to relax, not run around.
Le Blanc Spa Resort Cancun (Adults Only Luxury)
Best for: Luxury travelers, honeymooners, “we want to be spoiled” energy
This is where Palace goes high-end. From the second you walk in, it’s very “we’re taking care of everything.”
What we loved:
• Service is next level (like… remember-your-name level)
• The spa + hydrotherapy = unreal
• Food is a major step up from typical all-inclusives
• Calm, elevated atmosphere
What to know:
• It’s not a party resort at all
• Price point is higher, but you can totally feel the difference
👉 Our take: If you’ve ever said “I want luxury but still all-inclusive”… this is the place to book.
Cozumel Palace
Best for: Divers, snorkelers, and laid-back island vibes
Totally different feel from Cancun, and honestly, that’s the point.
What we loved:
• Direct ocean access for snorkeling
• Smaller, more personal feel
• Incredible for diving trips
What to know:
• No traditional beach (more rocky coastline)
• Not as many dining/entertainment options
👉 Our take: If you’re going to Cozumel, it’s for the water, and this place leans all the way into that.
Playacar Palace (Playa del Carmen)
Best for: Location lovers + walkable vibes
This one is all about where it’s at. Right in Playa del Carmen, steps from Fifth Avenue, so you get resort + town.
What we loved:
Gorgeous, swimmable beach 🌊
Walkable to shops, restaurants, nightlife
Smaller and easy to navigate
What to know:
Less “resort bubble” feel
Not as many amenities as Moon Palace
👉 Our take: If you like exploring outside your resort, this is a great balance.
So… Which One Should You Pick? 🤔
Here’s the simplest way to think about it:
• Traveling with kids or a big group? → Moon Palace
• Couples trip, chill vibes? → Sun Palace
• Luxury, honeymoon, next-level service? → Le Blanc
• Diving/snorkeling trip? → Cozumel Palace
• Want beach + walkable town? → Playacar Palace
Final Thoughts
What stood out most to us is that these are not interchangeable resorts!!
Same brand, but completely different experiences depending on what you’re looking for. And that’s where most people get it wrong… they book based on the name instead of the vibe. If you match the resort to your trip style, you’re going to love it. If not… it can feel like a miss. If you’re trying to figure out which one fits your trip best, this is literally what we do all day, just say the word and we’ll help you narrow it down without the overwhelm 💛
